2020 Annual Wage Review update!

The Commission has announced a 1.75% increase to minimum wages.

This will apply to all award wages. Increases to awards will start on 3 different dates for different groups of awards. This year, there has been a split in groupings as to when the increases come in to effect, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact it has had on particular industries.

Minimum wage increase for Building & Construction industry falls in the Group 2 category: 

Group 2 Awards – will start from 1 November 2020

  • Construction
  • Manufacturing
  • A range of other industries

FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO EMPLOY A BRICKLAYING APPRENTICE:

Businesses have an opportunity to positively impact the economy by supporting apprentices in developing their skills. Considerable financial support is also available to encourage the employment or hosting of Apprentice Bricklayers. For anyone not covered by an award or an agreement, the new National Minimum Wage will be $753.80 per week or $19.84 per hour. This applies from the first full pay period starting on or after 1 July 2020.
